The safety awareness in Vietnam’s construction industry is limited and requires active management to obtain safe standards for workers on site. Awareness is the first prerogative: we implement a system which approaches awareness with different means and the consequences of unsafe actions are explained in detail.
Preparation
A good HSE management system requires an early implementation. Our engineers will perform safety analysis already in the design stage where we pay attention to safe installation of our design and to a safe working situation after the construction is in use. The HSE system is implemented throughout the whole process of the project to make sure all parties understand the requirements.
Training
We train labour on sites for vital HSE issues, but also provide training for safety officers of contractors and clients. In order to keep our own knowledge up to date we provide in-house training to new staff, enrol in exchange programs with other offices of Royal Haskoning and enlist staff in training courses outside of Vietnam such as the NEBOSH course.
Execution
During implementation a team is composed with safety officers from Haskoning Vietnam, the contractor and representatives of the client. HSE is an integral part of the work on site and is on the agenda of site meetings, implemented as JSA’s in method statements and the responsibility of the supervisors as well as the contractor and client on site. |
