Full scope of services from conceptual design to completion

The Joint Venture between Damen Shipyards Group from the Netherlands and the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin) intend to establish a new shipyard in Haiphong. At this new yard DVS intend to construct a wide variety of vessels like tugs, workboats, high speed craft and offshore vessels mainly for the export market.

Initially the 43 hectare DVS yard will be designed for the outfitting of hulls produced by third parties. On arrival at the shipyard the hulls will be lifted out of the water using a ship lift installation, cleaned
and transported to the paint shop for shot blasting and painting. The hulls will then be
moved, via a transfer pit and a railway track system, to the main covered assembly hall
for outfitting. After outfitting (approximately 95% of completion) the hulls will be launched
and moved to the outfitting quay for final adjustment of engines, testing and trials.

Damen Shipyard has hired Royal Haskoning to assist from the early conceptual phase all the way up to design and construction supervision. Royal Haskoning’s scope includes both the marine facilities design as well all related buildings and facilities. Another fine example of Royal Haskoning’s complete multidisciplinary design service for the whole facility.
